Natasha & Kevin
I really enjoyed working with Natasha and Kevin over this last year - to plan their elegant day, filled with touches of Natasha’s South African background. Since Natasha and Kevin live in Grande Prairie, having an Edmonton wedding planner to help them make vendor connections and find decor solutions was instrumental to them.

We started the day at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, for a beautiful ceremony that involved Natasha’s uncle and long time family reverend as well. The ceremony programs included a very small elephant, and a branch resembling the ‘tree of life’ to give a little hint of her African background.
As Natasha and Kevin moved onto their photo session with Shaun & Kelly of Scade Photographics, final preparations were underway at the beautiful Union Bank Inn - this absolutely has to be one of my most favorite venues in the city!!! Tables were draped in ivory and gold linens, and we added crystals to all the candelabras to give them a more romantic feel.
The beautiful florals for the centerpieces and bouquets was Corals’ Design. The menu cards reflected the same ‘tree of life’ design as the programs, and were embellished with a Guinea feather (a South African chicken like bird that Natasha remembers fondly from her years there!). Each guest was given a hand carved beechwood elephant for good luck!
If you’ve been to the Union Bank Inn before, you know that there is a bright mural over the dancefloor. When Natasha wanted to cover it, instead of using fabric, we worked with photographer and my printer to create 7 foot banners of their engagement photos to cover the mural….this was STUNNING as they did their first dance, surrounded by their gorgeous engagement photos!! A simple but very dramatic decor feature!! And now they have the banners to keep and hang in their own home!
We included other touches such as adding as Ostrich hors d’oeuvres…but the highlight of the night was their grand entrance. Kept a secret between the couple, the venue, the photographer, the videographer and ourselves, for close to a year we had planned for an African drum and dance group, Asante, to escort them into to a South African wedding song, and then the loud, colorful performance ensued. It caught guests off guard, and was incredibly engergizing, and a incredible compliment to their day!
Watch the newspapers soon - as Natasha and Kevin have been interviewed for a news piece on unique grand entrances, and their photo has been selected for publishing (and they’ve just gotten back from their honeymoon!!)
Many other great vendors helped to make this day truly memorable, including Mark-It Creations, Simply Elegant Cakes, Sam of Ace Limousines and beautiful decor from Elegant Touches.
Natasha and Kevin - you are both very heartful people - and your love radiated through the room on your wedding day. Nuance Occasions was truly privileged to be a part of your special day!!
